Scores of youths, under the auspices of Yoruba World Congress Solidarity Walk on Tuesday, thronged Osogbo, Osun State capital to support Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed: “Operation Amotekun”.
OKSH360NEWS POST recalls that the solidarity walk was scheduled to hold across all the six South-West states.
Cross section of solidarity groups converged at the popular Freedom Park early Tuesday morning and moved through major streets of the metropolis.
They were armed with placards with inscriptions: ‘Amotekun has come to stay’, ‘No going back on Amotekun’, ‘Solution to insecurity in South West is Amotekun’, ‘Amotekun is here to stay’, ‘We need to save our people in South West’, among others.
Heavily armed security operatives including DSS, Police, and Civil Defence were in the entourage to provide security and maintain law and order.
Our Correspondent observed that the procession was peacefully organised except the attendant gridlock it caused, residents were seen going about their normal business.
The Chairman, Yoruba World Congress , Osun State Chapter, Dr Akin Adejuwon said the rally was aimed at creating awareness, mobilizing people and to inform them that Amotekun has come to stay on their behalf.
“It is not a protest but a walk of mobilization and awareness and sensitization of people to the fact that Amotekun is being deployed on their behalf.”
