Nigeria Air Force Jet Crashes During Anti-Insurgency Operation

A Nigerian Air Force jet fighting Boko Haram insurgents in the North-east has crashed.
Air Force Spokesman, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola says the jet crashed late on Wednesday while providing close air support to troops of 145 Battalion at Damasak in Northern Borno State.
He however failed to give details of the jet and how may pilots were on board at the time of the crash.
“As soon as the details of the crash are known, they will be made available to the public.” The spokesman promised.
News of the crash came hours after Daramola announced the Air Force has destroyed a building being used as meeting venue by Boko Haram fighters near Baga, still in Borno.
The Air Force provides air support to ground troops in the operations against the insurgents in the Northeast.
