Adamawa/Taraba Customs Command generates N168.29m in 2018

The Adamawa/ Taraba Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, says security challenges in Nigeria and Cameroonian border affects its revenue generation efforts.The command said this amounted to why it recorded shortfall in 2018 revenue target.
The Comptroller in charge of the two states, Kamardeen Olumoh disclosed this in Yola while commenting on the activities of the command in the past one year.
Insecurity challenges including insurgency, communal clashes and rebellion in Cameroon has adversely affected customs revenue generation in Adamawa and Taraba States.
The comptroller in charge of the two states, Kamardeen Olumoh said flooding washed away large portion of roads and farm produce that constituted major source of revenue.
He said the command generated only N168.1 million last year representing 14. 7 per cent of its revenue target.
To him, the command arrested three suspects and made 61 seizures comprising rice, vehicles, petroleum products and second hand clothes with duty paid worth N59.7 million.
In line with president Muhammadu Buhari’s directive, NCS handed over more than 2000 seized bags of rice and second hand clothing to the IDPs and orphanage homes within the command.
The comptroller reiterated commitment of the command to ensure better performance this year with public support.
