The Nigerian Government has accused human rights group, Amnesty International of bias in its reportage of events in the country.
The statement from the office of the Nigerian President comes hours after the group accused Nigerian government officials of complicity in the death of 3,641 persons in the past three years Amnesty International also accused security officials of slow reaction in the conflict between farmers and herders across the country.
Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu in his reaction to the latest report says the group is now displaying obvious “bias and inaccuracies” in its reports.
Shehu also says the “Federal Government is increasingly concerned about the role that Amnesty International is playing in the war against terror in Nigeria.
“While President Muhammadu Buhari cherishes and encourages the noble ideals on which institutions like Amnesty International are founded, the organisation’s operations in Nigeria seem geared towards damaging the morale of the Nigerian military.” The statement continued
“It often appears as if the Nigerian government is fighting two wars on terror: against Boko Haram and against Amnesty International.
