Mumbai: Model's body found stuffed in suitcase, 1 arrested

The body of a 20-year-old model was found stuffed in a suitcase in Malad's Mindspace area in Mumbai. Police have arrested the accused, a 19-year-old man, with the help of an alert cab driver.
The victim, who has been identified as Mansi Dixit, is from Rajasthan and was living in a flat in Andheri to work as a model and try her luck in Bollywood. She was a very ambitious woman who had made some appearances in mainstream movies and also acted in short films.
According to the police, a cab driver saw the suspect, Muzammil Sayyed, dump the suitcase carrying her body in the bushes. The driver alerted the cops who arrested Sayyed within a few hours. Sayyed was a passenger in the same driver's cab.
Police said that Mansi met Sayyed, who stayed in Oshiwara-Andheri area, through social media. Sayyed called Mansi to his house on Monday and strangulated her with a rope after they had an argument over some issues, police said.
According to the cops, he then stuffed the model's body in a suitcase and booked a cab for the international airport. While the cab was on the way to the airport, Sayyed asked the driver to take the cab to Mindspace area in Malad, which has a lot of bushes and mangroves. After dumping the body in a secluded area, Sayyed ditched the cab and escaped from the spot by taking a rickshaw.
The cab driver, who witnessed this series of events, sensed something was amiss and informed the police. The cops reached the spot, under Bangur Nagar police station limits, and found Mansi's body inside a suitcase with a rope tied around her neck.
The body has been sent for an autopsy.
